A couple of weeks ago I got to see my crazy ideas come to life.
After the release of his book, LifeWay wanted to create a series of videos to go along with a devotional they are putting at the end of the year. Jeff wanted more than just talking head videos… so he asked me if I could come up with artistic representations of the themes he would be speaking on. I pitched them some ideas… some of which I knew would be risky to pull off… but they were stoked on the ideas.
So we spent a week together putting these ideas together. And I can’t tell you how awesome it felt to see them all happen the way I had imagined them in my head. Eric Chapman (part of the crew) sent me some pics from that time and I share them with you.Read More»
There is a Goodwill by my studio that always has killer landscape paintings.
And when I say killer, I mean the ones you find in your grandmas attic. The ones ripe with old time Bob Ross nostalgia. The ones you kind of love but you would never really put them up in your house.
I’ve done a series of thrift store paintings in the past where I painted various additions to the scenes – from tree houses to submarines – but most people who don’t paint feel a bit inadequate to accomplish such results. So I thought about what could be an awesome alternative, and I realized that everyone can lay some tape down and dab paint.Read More»
I could see the vision in my head and then I heard this:

But before we get to that…
2014 has started out with me being unemployed.Read More»
Such an interesting statement… that the way we find our lives is by losing them. According to Jesus, by losing it for Him…. His work, His direction, His purposes, His sovereignty. The way in which we are saved is not by control… but by releasing control.
As I’ve been walking a unique inner journey over the past few months, I just keep hearing this statement: “let it die so it can rise.” I very much have gone through a season (still there!) in which I’ve had to lay down many aspects of my life. It’s been painful and mournful. A lot of feeling lost and not sure where to go next. But in all the vagueness, I keep hearing this phrase…. “let it die… so it can rise.” For me, it’s God saying,“My resurrection is on the other side of this, but you can’t get there without death. It has to die first before I can resurrect it. My joy will be there. Just lay it down and let it die” – The Almighty (paraphrased)
